Once you've started transferring a big chunk of files, there's no way to pause and restart the process, you can't create a new folder without digging into a menu, and forget batch renaming – it's not happening. This is where the default File Explorer falls down, because transferring files and folders between locations is a clumsy process that often involves opening two or more Explorer windows and dragging icons between them.
Which is fine if you only need a basic file manage, but these days you can do better, with alternatives offering advanced options that simplify demanding tasks and can be especially useful when it comes to sharing files securely among friends, family, or work colleagues. Although Windows constantly changes with each new version, File Explorer (formerly called Windows Explorer) has remained pretty much the same.
